The program is simply called "Pad". Described on the authors
web page as: "Pad is not only a powerful and easy to use
editor and word processor to replace the Windows
Notepad and Wordpad, but also a speedy image viewer with
animated gif support. It includes a fully customizable,
floating and dockable toolbar, a clipbook and a glossary
function. Furthermore, files with virtually any size can be
opened, a tabbed interface, a template,
bookmark and favorite function and several HTML
features are included, as well as any standard features
of modern editors and viewers." |

The program is called Turbo Navigator, and I love it. Do you remember
working with File Manager in Windows 3.1? If you are like me, you liked
the separate windows with separate system trees. Turbo Navigator has
it, and numerous other features including: full Drag and Drop
capability; built in views for text, RTF, binaryWAV, MID,MP3, AVI, MPG
and other supported file formats without any need for opening separate
applications; advanced change attributes capability; advanced filtering
capability; built-in favorites for quick directory change; ability to
wipe the files from the disk so they can not be undeleted; built-in
strong encryption capability for quick file encryption; detailed
directory info display with graph; and a lot more... And the best
feature for many of us is the very detailed, yet very simple user
interface. |

Desktop Themes |
If you have Windows 9x, you probably use desktop themes. If you are not
using themes, get with it! :-) I have tried numerous theme utilities,
but the best by far is Desktop Architect. Desktop Architect controls
every aspect of your display. This includes the usual aspects,
but also the startup - shutdown - wait screens, system icons, web view,
and it will package your own theme for distribution. |

I have finally found an acceptible replacement for IE !! It is
K-Meleon. It is a Windows only browser based on the Mozilla engine. I
was not sure about using a browser based on Netscape/Mozilla engine,
because I find both of them too slow. But someone has done something
right with K-Meleon. It is fast, lightweight, and has some great
features. Another worthy mention should go to Lynx. Although it is only a text browser, I have really fallen in love with it. Check out my Lynx page for links and my testimonial. |

Disk Cleanup |
This program will not replace Disk Cleanup, but works with it to remove
all the crap from your computer. With EasyCleaner you can speed up your
computer, free disk space and increase usability by deleting invalid
registry entries, deleting invalid shortcuts, deleting duplicate and
unnecessary files. I admit, I was scared at first, specially with the
registry cleaner. But I have used it for over 3 months and have had no
problems and found some noticeable differences. |

Character Map |
Extended Character Map is software to view typeface characters. This
program just act like standard Windows Character Map. The different is
this program display sample character bigger than Microsoft's
standard. And the sample character and characters in character map can
be resized too. It has a lot of nice features. |

Paint |
Some one has recently sent me some to check out, so I will be trying
them. I have recently found out that THE GIMP (the Linux equivilate)
has been ported to Windows, so I have put a link here since I have
found it to be incredibly powerful. Athough it does take some time to
get used to. |

Calculator |
Someone told me about Clac98, so I checked it out. As noted by the author, "Calc98 is a Scientific/Engineering calculator with units conversions and physical properties. Statistics, financial, array and matrix functions. It supports algebraic or RPN logic, and customisable size, fonts, layout and appearance." I do not use it that much, but then again I do not use Window's calculator that much either. |
