Tuff Test
|
I am a teacher who has taken a number of the schools discarded computers and played Dr. Frankenstein with them. I used Tuff-Test to check the hardware. #1-TuffTEST is the first PC
diagnostic software product that can automatically test the major hardware components of any Intel-based, or compatible, desktop PC. There are three versions, a freeware version,
$10.00(US) version, and a $30.00 version. The freeware is excellent for school (>500mb HD, >8M RAM) and the $10 version is the one I use one my computer. This program has
saved me unmeasurable amounts of time and money.

I know I listed this on under Anti-Window$, but I really like it and thought I would put it here as well.

SUSD Screens
|
SUSD Screens allows you to control the Start-Up, Shutdown, and Wait screens you see on you Windows Machine. If you are using Desk Architect, then you do not need this one. But if
you want to keep your theme manager and it doesn't control the screens, then you need this program.

ReGet
|
So you are downloading a file with you wonderful 28K modem, it has taken all day but you are almost done. Then someone or something disconnects you--What do you do? If you had
Reget, you could just pick up where you left off instead of starting all over. I have been using this program for 2+ years and I love it. Now I know this is ad-ware (after 30 days),
but the only difference between the ad-ware and the commercial version is a simple ad placed in the window. If you do not have a download manager, get this one.

JLC SplitIT 95
|
This program is great. It allows you to split one large file into smaller segments. I use it all the time to transfer files larger the 1.44 MB back and forth between computers. You
can also use it for e-mailing files, or preparing files for downloads. The best thing of all is that the receiving computer only needs to be able to run DOS.

Tree Pad
|
TreePad is an easy-to-use information manager/text database program. With this version TreePad, you can structure your personal notes and information in an orderly fashion. You do
not have to worry about finding it back, because TreePad has extended search functions.
TreePad gives the appearance of Explorer (with an expandable tree on the left) mixed with Notpad (with a text area on the right). The program, after installing, takes less then 700
KB so it will fit on 1 disk. I use it to keep track of all of my passwords and for my students personnal information. And since it all fits on a disk, I can carry it around to
wherever I go.

Net Sentinel
|
This is a great little program that allows you the possibility to disconnect users, log all intruders, checks continuously the users connected to your shared files and folders on
your computer, and warns you as soon as someone is connected. I use it at school to make sure that those who are not supposed to use my shared files don't. The only draw back is
that it only works under WIN 98 and WIN NT4 (according to the web page.)

True Test Series
|
Here you can find a series of freeware programs that will allow you to create, edit, check and evaluate tests. As a school teacher, I love the program, although it is a little
troublesome for Math. It took me a while to learn the software, but once I figured it out I find it to be a wonder tool to have.

Graph Paper Printer
|
I use this one all the time. Our school does not buy graph paper, so I have to copy my own. As quoted from the softwares Readme file:
"Graph Paper Printer is designed to print out numerous variants of graph papers , music manuscripts, pattern papers, and tables with user-defined size and colors."
UPDATE:
The most recent version is now shareware, but I have included a link to download the older, freeware version, as permitted by the license agreement packaged with the software.
(I use the freeware one.)
