As I mentioned at the beginning of this course, you do not need some heavy-duty, over-priced, fancy-dancy piece of software to make a web page. In fact just about any computer can be used, all you need is the ability to write and save a text document. The problem with writing an HTML document in any old text editor (such as Window's Notepad, DOS's Edit, or MAC's SimpleText) is that you need to either memorize all of the HTML tags you plan on using or at least have a huge and expensive book beside you all the time. That is where all the special software comes in. If you want to see just some of the examples, I would suggest you check out http://www.tucows.com. They have a great collection of software downloads and reviews for all different operating systems. You really should check it out when you have some time, it is a really amazing site.
In this lesson, you will download the appropriate package for your operation system, install the software, and then take some time to become familiar with your new software. Pretty simple, and I'll walk you through all the steps.
Step 1: First decide what operation system you will be doing your work on. You will be able to complete this course at what ever computer you feel comfortable using. You can use your iBook from school, or what ever computer you have, just click on the appropriate link.
