TCKR 231 is a Bachmann GP-40, originally painted for MKT RR. I really like the GP-3x and 4x lines, and also love the green & yellow safety stripes. So I decided to bring this Jeep to the Turtle Creek Railroad because Rule #1 - its my railroad :-)
The Story behind why TCKR has a Geep in my world, even though it never had a Geep in the real world:
It's 1988 and MKT has just merged with MoPac. And it looks like the TCKR management has decided to bring an ex-PC, ex-CR GP-40 back to Western PA. While TCKR is not exactly "swimming in cash", and are having trouble getting the estimated 11 - 15 customers they were originally planning for when the line was purchased from CR in 1982.
Management is hoping that by bringing on a new, larger HP locomotive, they can hopefully win back some of the customers they have lost, and maybe even pick up a few new ones. So with a very quick patch job, they get the ex-MKT 231 out on the road running jobs up and down the TCKR's 10 mile route!
